Programs - Transforming Distressed Communities

Transforming Distressed Communities (TDC)
TDC is an applied learning based program that links middle and high school student’s academic education with real-world community development projects.  The program is professional researched based and incorporates higher learning education with everyday professional applications.

The program has four long term outcomes:
Goal 1: Link and improve academic skills through applied learning

Goal 2: Prepare youth to be successful in the workforce

Goal 3: Increase awareness of college education

Goal 4: Better connect youth to their community

The program’s success is measured through pre-post evaluations, exit interviews, student presentations, student performance both academic and as student interns.

Based on small group learning with a 7:1 ratio, our TDC program success is witnessed in the quality and critical in-depth learning that students exhibit in being involved in the decision making impacting their community and schools.

“As a parent, I want the best education and learning environment for my daughter. We found this at Community Technical Assistance, Inc. which provided a high quality learning environment. Their course (TDC) curriculum especially the writing course drastically increased my daughters writing skills to college level. Tiffaine’s writing is a joy to read and carefully crafted as a result of your high standards. The learning environment is also safe and welcoming. Your staff exhibited great knowledge of the curriculum material and always provided positive feedback for my daughter to be a better student.”

“Before I came to CTA, I was leaving my neighborhood and never coming back.  But after being with  the TDC program and learning the importance of helping others, I now understand the importance of coming back to my community and making a difference.  Thanks CTA”
